Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says she'll continue to pressure Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to chip in more money to upgrade the state's busiest motorway.

Mr Turnbull committed $215 million during the federal campaign to pay for half the cost of upgrading the M1 motorway at two bottlenecks, but Ms Palaszczuk said the Commonwealth needed to pay for 80 per cent.

"My government has put 20 per cent on the table ... it's the same that exists in NSW, a 20-80 per cent split and I would welcome further conversations with the prime minister about the need to get work started on that upgrade," she said on Tuesday.
