Qld police identify victim via hearing aid

An elderly man left fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Brisbane's west has been identified by the serial number on his hearing aid.

The 77-year-old suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a vehicle at Inala on Monday night and remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of the Princess Alexandra Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman told AAP.

Police were initially unable to identify the man and released images of some of his belongings, including a silver watch and glasses as they appealed for public assistance.

Further information about the driver is being sought.
