Qld police recapture man who fled custody

A man who escaped police custody in far north Queensland while being transferred to a watch house outside Cairns has been recaptured.

The 25-year-old man, who was arrested on Saturday for serious sexual assault and was handcuffed, fled from police into nearby bushland as he was being transferred into a paddy wagon.

He was arrested on Tuesday night in the Millstream area near Ravenshoe. He was charged with escaping lawful custody among other charges and is due to appear in Cairns Magistrate court on Wednesday.
