Qld police fatally shoot armed man

Queensland police have shot dead a man who confronted them while armed with a knife at a caravan park north of Brisbane.

Police were called to the Deception Bay park following reports a man was threatening people at 2.30pm on Monday.

When the armed man confronted two police officers they fired multiple shots, which fatally wounded the man, Inspector Craig White told reporters.

He said the family of the man were yet to be contacted and investigations were ongoing.

Inspector White said a male officer received a minor cut during the confrontation.

"It's a terrible tragedy for all concerned," he said.
