Qld opposition remains off parliament site

Queensland's ousted Liberal National Party MPs have also been booted out of the state's parliamentary precinct.

But, according to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, fair's fair.

The LNP made the controversial decision after its 2012 landslide election victory to send the seven remaining Labor MPs across the road to the Department of Public Works building.

Purpose-built opposition offices in the parliamentary annexe were converted into committee rooms.

Ms Palaszczuk says the new LNP opposition have already moved into the Public Works building offices.

"I made it very clear that the opposition was to move into the office that we occupied immediately, the same time that the ministers were moving into their offices," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"They will get the same staff complement and the same money."

Ms Palaszczuk said her stance was in contrast to the former LNP government, which left the Labor opposition without offices for two weeks before sending them across the road.

She also said it wasn't practical to invite the opposition back into the parliamentary precinct.

"Those rooms have been changed into committee rooms at substantial cost and there are offices that are now set up for the opposition and they have moved into those offices and they are functioning as an opposition," she said.
