Twins' ashes returned to Qld parents

A Gold Coast woman has thanked the public and police for their efforts after the ashes of their twin daughters were returned to them following a home robbery.

Donna Tweed was left devastated after thieves raided her Upper Coomera home on Wednesday, stealing property including a silver trinket box containing the ashes of her babies, who died soon after they were born prematurely 13 years ago.

A Facebook post by Ms Tweed calling for the return of the ashes was shared over 2000 times.

On Thursday afternoon Ms Tweed and her partner were reunited with the ashes after they were handed in to police by a member of the public.
