Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has defended her decision to travel to NSW to use her newfound party clout to help boost Labor's chances of victory the same week Queensland parliament resumes.

Ms Palaszczuk has become a Labor hero since the party's shock win over the Liberal National Party at the Queensland election on January 31.

She's scheduled to help NSW Labor leader Luke Foley launch the party's campaign on Friday ahead of the state election on March 28.

Ms Palaszczuk was quick to defend her decision to head south after addressing an Australian Workers' Union conference on the Gold Coast.

"I'm just down there for an hour or so. It's hardly any time at all out of my day," she said.

"If Lawrence Springborg wants to go and help the premier down there, I'm sure he would as well. That's if he gets invited."

Ms Palaszcuk said she had been committed to the Cyclone Marcia recovery mission and also had another trip to the disaster zone planned for the week.
