Qld MP claims rival made pedophile insult

A Queensland MP has demanded an apology from a rival politician, claiming he called him a pedophile in parliament.

Labor MP Bruce Saunders interrupted a debate in parliament on Thursday afternoon to make the allegation against the Liberal National Party's Ian Rickuss.

"He just called me a pedophile, I take offence to that," Mr Saunders told Deputy Speaker Di Farmer.

He then rounded on Mr Rickuss, saying: "You just called me a pedophile.

"I take offence.

"Now, I want an apology."

Ms Farmer said she didn't hear the remark and said parliament's transcript would be reviewed to determine what happened.

Mr Rickuss then demanded Mr Saunders take back the allegation.

"He accused me of something I didn't do - I ask him to withdraw," he said.

However, Ms Farmer reiterated a review of parliament's audio would determine what took place.
