Qld mother's plea for help in cold case

The family of a woman violently murdered on the Sunshine Coast three decades ago has made a fresh appeal in the hope of finding her killer.

Lesley Patricia Larkin, 31, was found brutally assaulted at her Kareela Avenue unit at Noosa Heads on November 9, 1984, and died from her injuries the following day.

Her mother, Patti Larkin, made an emotional appeal on Monday, urging anyone with information to come forward.

"It's 30 years ago today since my daughter Lesley died, murdered by a person or persons as yet unknown," the elderly woman told reporters in Brisbane.

"It's been a long time for us, for the family, to wait for a resolution and to await for some kind of closure to what happened to her and why it happened."

The family believe Lesley's killer is still alive.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mick Dowie said there had been a number of persons of interest but police were keeping an open mind.

"We're looking at any new intelligence that comes in and we'll investigate it and hopefully come up with something we haven't been able to identify before," he said.

Ms Larkin had moved from Sydney to Noosa where she lived with her boyfriend.

She was heavily involved in yoga and had alternative lifestyle interests.

On November 9, 1984, Ms Larkin was found in a semiconscious state on her bed, severely bashed with a blunt instrument. She died the following day.
