Qld stabbing victim very lucky: paramedic
A man stabbed several times by an intruder at a Brisbane bayside home is lucky to survive given he was wounded close to his heart, a paramedic says.
The man, aged in his 60s, is in hospital with serious injuries after he was attacked by a man who may have been trying to break into his house on Starkey Street, Wellington Point, around 5am on Friday.
A neighbour heard his call for help and phoned police and emergency services.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic Andrew Colen said the man was fortunate to have survived the attack.
"He had a wound very close to his heart, in his chest," he said.
"It came very, very close to his spine, the wound in his back.
"He's very lucky."
Police have cordoned off areas around the address and are searching for the offender.
