Qld man fronts court over wrench attack

A Brisbane man accused of holding a teen captive for five hours while he bashed him with a wrench has briefly fronted court.

Dwaine Robert King, 22, made no application for bail when he appeared on Saturday in the Brisbane Magistrates Court over the alleged attack.

He is accused of holding an 18-year-old man, who is known to him, captive in a Keperra home for five hours from 1am on Friday.

Police allege King repeatedly punched the man and used a wrench to hit him.

No reason was given in court for why the attack took place.

The victim managed to flee the home at about 6am and alerted police.

He was taken to hospital with facial cuts and bruises.

King was charged with a string of charges including torture, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He will remain in custody until his next court date on September 2.
