Cyclist killed in north Qld crash

A cyclist has died after colliding with a station wagon in far north Queensland.

The crash happened at an intersection near the town of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands, inland from Cairns, on Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said.

Paramedics tried to save the man who had suffered extensive injuries, but he died at the scene.

Police couldn't say whether anyone else was injured.
