Qld man charged over Sunshine Coast fire

A man has been charged over a grassfire on Queensland's Sunshine Coast as emergency crews battle blazes across the state.

Police were called to Steve Irwin Way in Beerburrum on Tuesday afternoon after receiving reports of the fire, but it had been put out by the time they arrived.

A Beerburrum man, 51, will appear in the Nambour Magistrates Court on November 11 on one count of setting fire to crops and growing plants.

Temperatures in the area reached 35C on Tuesday, and the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe fire weather warning for the southeast coast.

Firefighters were working on Thursday to contain a blaze at Ravensbourne, northeast of Toowoomba, which prompted evacuations on Wednesday.

Crews and two helicopters were battling the flames near Mount Jockey Road, and nearby residents were warned to review their bushfire survival plans.

The fire posed no threat to property on Thursday morning.

Crews are also being kept busy by a bushfire at Ballandean, near Stanthorpe in southeast Queensland.

The blaze began on Tuesday afternoon but posed no threat to property on Thursday morning.

Firefighters were back-burning and strengthening containment lines with the help of four aerial support aircraft, the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said.
