Qld man charged over police station break

A man has used a metal tyre rim to smash his way into a far north Queensland police station in the middle of the night.

Police say the man, 31, broke into the Yarrabah police station, near Cairns, just before midnight on Saturday and was able to make his way into several offices in the building.

He was arrested a short time later and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday charged with four offences, including wilful damage and obstructing police.
