Qld man charged for attacking dog

A man has been charged with serious animal cruelty after allegedly attacking a dog with a sledgehammer in far northern Queensland.
Police allege the man twice smashed the dog on the head the sledgehammer in a yard at Goondi Bend, near Innisfail, around 10am on Monday.
He'll appear in court later this month. The dog has undergone surgery for serious head injuries.
