Qld man charged after rooftop stand-off

A north Queensland man will face court after a bizarre stand-off where he allegedly threw makeshift missiles at police from the roof of a tyre retailer.

Police say a 31-year-old man broke into a Beaurepaires store in North Rockhampton in the early hours of Saturday morning.

After ransacking the building, he fled to the rooftop and reportedly threw glass and bolts at officers.

He was coaxed down from the roof by police negotiators.

No injuries were reported.

He has been charged with 14 offences, also relating to other break and enters earlier that evening and will face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
