Qld magistrate fined for drink-driving

A Queensland magistrate has been disqualified from driving after he was caught drink-driving.

Cairns Magistrate Trevor Black blew a low alcohol reading of .057 when he was breath tested by police in Cairns last month.

He faced the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to driving over the general alcohol limit.

Chief Magistrate Ray Rinaudo, who was flown into Cairns to hear the matter, fined his colleague $300 and disqualified him from driving for a month.

No conviction was recorded.

Magistrate Black has since resumed court duties.

However, a spokesman for the Office of the Chief Magistrate said he will not be presiding over any traffic matters while disqualified from driving.
