Qld launches elder abuse campaign
AAP
A new campaign warning about elder abuse has been launched in Queensland following an increase in reported incidents.
Seniors Minister Coralee O'Rourke says the campaign - "there's no excuse for elder abuse" - will be promoted in shopping centres, medical centres, on buses and online after 1350 cases were reported last year - up from 1280 the year before.
"Research shows many cases have been committed by a family member, with the most common offences being physical or emotional intimidation (and) financial abuse such as bank skimming and transfer of assets," Ms O'Rourke said.
