Qld jail death being investigated

Queensland police are investigating the death of a prisoner in a Townsville jail on Boxing Day.

The Queensland Corrective Services department says the death in custody in understood to be non-suspicious but the matter has been referred to the police's Corrective Services Investigation Unit.

In a statement issued by the justice department, a corrective services spokesman says no further information can be provided.
