Qld inmate charged with more jail rapes

A man accused of raping inmates at Queensland prisons is facing a raft of new charges after police identified more alleged victims.

The 47-year-old was first charged over the jail assaults in 2015, but a police taskforce has uncovered many more victims who were allegedly attacked between 1994 and 2014.

The man - who is serving time for similar offences - is now facing at least 60 charges including rape, assault with attempt to rape, indecent assault, sexual assault and deprivation of liberty.

He did not appear when his case was mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to reappear on July 30.
