A Queensland mum who sexually abused her special needs son should be thoroughly ashamed of her betrayal, a judge says.

The middle-aged woman, who can't be identified, was on Friday sentenced to five years' jail after pleading guilty to two counts of incest in 2015.

"He needed special care from you and you betrayed him," Brisbane District Court Judge Julie Dick said.

"You owed him the ability to trust you."

The woman was herself physically and sexually abused in her early years and suffered through "deviant sexual practices" and extraordinarily harsh discipline, Judge Dick said.

She had a child at age 14 after being raped by her stepfather, the court heard.

"Your own background is a sad one, a dysfunctional one," Judge Dick said.

"It doesn't excuse it. You are the mother of this child."

The mother, who has been in custody for 17 months, will have her sentence suspended after serving 20 months.

"You indulged yourself and now is the time to pay," Judge Dick said.

The woman intends moving to another part of Queensland when freed.
