Ice dealer jailed for drugs, child porn

A drug-dealing child porn collector who had a stash of more than 50,000 images has told a Queensland judge he has addressed his sexual addiction.

Robert David Craig, 44, on Monday pleaded guilty to nine drug-related offences and one count of possessing child exploitation material following his arrest in Brisbane's inner-south in February last year.

Customs intercepted a parcel addressed to Craig found to contain high-purity methylamphetamine with an estimated street value of $321,000.

When police searched his house, they found a computer containing 54,691 child exploitation images and 1876 movies, some in the most extreme category of child pornography.

Prosecutor Dennis Kinsella told the court some of the material involved babies, infants, bestiality, bondage, urination and threats with a knife.

Prior to being sentenced, Craig told the court he could not deny he was guilty.

"I have since been charged, (and) addressed my addiction to the best of my ability with both professional help, a loving, caring partner and a beautiful group of friends," he said.

"I think most of what we're here about today has stemmed from my addiction."

In sentencing Justice Martin Burns said child exploitation was not a victimless crime.

"The cruelty, degradation and corruption is abhorrent to any right thinking member of the community," he said.

Justice Burns noted Craig had no criminal history.

Craig was sentenced to three months' jail for the child pornography offence and received a head sentence of seven years for trafficking.

He will be required to serve at least 80 per cent of his time - five years and three months - behind bars before being eligible for parole.
