No surprises in Qld infrastructure plan

The Queensland government's long-awaited draft infrastructure plan provides scant detail about future projects.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad says the plan will provide certainty for Queenslanders, however there are no projects in the document that have not been previously announced.

There are numerous broad statements about the government's infrastructure "opportunities" for the next five to 15 years.

Those statements include things like increasing gas use in the commercial sector and keeping dams safe while maintaining water supplies, but there are no bricks and mortar projects lined up for after 2019.

Ms Trad called it a "fiscally responsible long-term plan that drives private sector innovation", but she could only spruik a previously announced project when pressed for detail on projects in the longer term.

"I can point to Gold Coast light rail, which is a new project that was lobbied for by the Palaszczuk Labor government," she said.

The deputy premier promised the Labor government would keep its election commitment to release a full infrastructure plan by the end of this year.
