Qld govt under pressure over bikie report

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is under pressure to publicly release a secret submission from the corruption watchdog supporting the state's anti-bikie laws.

A taskforce reviewing the controversial legislation, introduced by the former Newman government, handed its recommendations to the government on Thursday.

But the public will have to wait until after cabinet meets on Monday to learn the contents of the Organised Crime Legislation Taskforce's report and the government's response.

A partly-redacted Crime and Corruption Commission submission to the taskforce, obtained by The Courier-Mail newspaper through a right to information application, has warned outlaw motorcycle gangs like the Hells Angels, Nomads, Finks and Bandidos, were "seeking to gain a foothold" in Queensland.

Opposition police spokesman Jarrod Bleijie has called on Ms Palaszczuk to intervene and get the CCC's submission released.

He suspects the submission is being kept secret because it goes against the government's plans to water down the laws.

Superintendent Jim Keogh, who once led the Gold Coast gang crackdown, has publicly warned of a bikie turf war if the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment (VLAD) laws are watered down.
