The Queensland government has extended the deadline to finalise a royalties agreement with Adani for its contentious Carmichael coal mine in the Galilee Basin.

By mutual agreement, the new target date for the conclusion of the Royalty Deferral and Repayment Agreement is now November 30, Treasurer Jackie Trad said in a statement late on Monday.

The Queensland Coordinator-General had set September 30 as the deadline for a deal, but Ms Trad says the negotiations will take longer to finalise.

The delay is not expected to hold up construction at the mine.
