Queensland's government is concerned Australia's free trade deal with China could compromise building site safety.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad wants to ensure that labour provisions in the deal won't allow unlicensed Chinese tradespeople to work in the country.

"We will be making strong representation to make sure that we can guarantee that the people working on building sites are qualified to do so, that safety is not compromised in this process," she said.
