Qld girl calls triple zero to save grandad

An eight-year-old girl has come to rescue of her grandfather on a remote Queensland property, calling triple-zero after he crashed his quad bike.

The 70-year-old rolled the bike down an embankment at the family property at New Moonta, inland from Bundaberg, on Wednesday morning.

After witnessing the crash with her grandmother, the youngster ran back to the homestead to call triple-zero and expertly direct paramedics to the location.

"She was a confident little thing and from all reports she handled herself very well on the phone," CareFlight pilot Neils Bunte told AAP.

"The gentleman was certainly lucky this little lady was visiting for the school holidays."

The man who may have suffered spinal injuries, was stabilised and flown to Bundaberg Hospital.
