Qld 'murder victim' just had broken toe
Fears of a bikie-related gang murder have been allayed after Gold Coast police found the "victim" had simply broken his toe.
A Gold Coast businessman claimed he saw a gang of men bundling a lifeless body from one car into another at Arundel about 8am (AEST) on Thursday.
The businessman, who asked not to be named, told The Gold Coast Bulletin he saw a band of nervous and agitated men dragging a motionless body out of one car and stuffing it into another.
"They dragged him out under the back of his arms - he was completely motionless," the businessman said.
Another witness said police had been combing a nearby industrial estate that backs on to a property once used as a clubhouse for the Finks bikie gang.
However, the potentially sinister narrative had a far more innocent explanation.
It was simply a bunch of friendly citizens helping someone out.
"It was just some guy with a broken toe who they were helping into a car," a police spokeswoman told AAP.
"They were just kind people."
In a statement, police said the man had been located "safe and well" and there would be no further investigation.
