A Sunshine Coast man received a rude wake-up call when a car ploughed into his bedroom at high speed in the middle of the night.

It's alleged the 21-year-old woman was drunk when she lost control of the car on Goonawarra Drive at Mooloolaba about 1am on Tuesday.

The car mounted the kerb, became airborne and wiped out garden beds before crashing through the brick wall of a home.

The 72-year-old man who was asleep in his bed at the time received injuries to his leg and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police said the driver's blood-alcohol reading was more than four times the legal limit and she was charged with high-range drink-driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

She wasn't injured in the crash and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 26.
