Qld cyclist stabbed with screwdriver

A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a cyclist with a screwdriver in Brisbane.

The 49-year-old victim was riding along a bike path at Norman Park on Sunday morning when he was attacked and stabbed several times.

The rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His alleged attacker, 21, will front a Brisbane court on Monday charged with attempted murder, assaulting police, and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police later told AAP it appeared to be a random attack and the men were not known to each other.

The accused was on foot when he allegedly set upon the rider near Venice Street at Norman Park just before 11am on Sunday.
