Two people are dead and five are seriously hurt after a horror day on Queensland's roads.

A cyclist in his 30s was killed when hit by a truck at Parramatta Park, in Cairns, about 1.15pm on Friday.

His death was followed by that of a motorcyclist who crashed into a parked car at Clontarf, in Brisbane's bayside, just half an hour later.

The fatalities came after a spate of crashes that left a number of motorists badly injured.

A man was hospitalised with a head injury after his car collided with a truck about 12.20pm at Wilsonton in Toowoomba.

A female cyclist, 27, was also taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car at Mackay about 7.30am.

About 5am, a man suffered serious head injuries when he got out of his ute and was struck by a truck that had been travelling behind his vehicle on the D'Aguilar Highway.

The accident happened an hour after a man, 33, was airlifted to hospital with head and internal injuries following a collision between two trucks at Ogmore, north of Rockhampton.

About 1.15am, a 39-year-old man suffered critical injuries when the vehicle he was driving collided on a bend with a guard rail at Acacia Ridge, in Brisbane's south.
