Qld cop in court over stapler assault

A Queensland police sergeant has appeared in court charged with attacking a man with a stapler in a Brisbane watch house.

John Lloyd-Jones, 51, was charged by the Crime and Corruption Commission last year with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm whilst armed.

He's accused of throwing a metal stapler at a man and injuring his jaw at the Richlands Watch House on August 9.

Lloyd-Jones, who was stood down by the Queensland Police Service in September, appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The case was adjourned until February 16 for a court mention.

The CCC said in December, when Lloyd-Jones was charged, that other officers were under investigation in relation to whether they responded appropriately to the alleged attack.
