Qld company fined for no farm work records

A Queensland labour-hire company has been fined more than $84,000 by the Fair Work Ombudsman for failing to keep proper records for overseas workers on a strawberry farm.

A Fair Work National inquiry into the exploitation of overseas workers found records for only six out of 265 employees at a Caboolture strawberry farm, in the state's south east.

It was determined that the six employees were underpaid, and it is unknown if the other 259 employees were paid correctly.

HTA Farmings has been penalised $70,550, while company manager Tuan Anh Le has been fined an additional $14,110.

The remaining findings of the inquiry, known as The Harvest Travel inquiry, will be reported this year.
