Qld golf coach charged over sex offences

A Queensland golf coach is "shocked" over allegations that he indecently treated a child, a court has heard.

Peak performance coach Sean Patrick Lynch, 65, fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday charged with six indecent treatment offences.

Lynch was the mind coach for a golf reality show called The Cut which saw the emergence of Queensland-born golf pro Jason Day.

Lynch faces one charge relating to allegedly exposing a girl under the age of 16 to an indecent video.

The remaining five charges are for the alleged indecent treatment of the same child.

The alleged offences were committed between January 1 and December 19 this year at three locations around Brisbane and the Gold Coast including a golf club, according to court documents.

Prosecutor Tim Wise said the allegations against Lynch included him allegedly getting the child to touch his genitals.

Lynch's solicitor Scott Webb told the court the girl was a troubled child who Lynch and his wife were trying to help.

Mr Webb said Lynch denied "each and every allegation" made by the girl.

"There's a lot more to this than, I would suggest, probably meets the eye," Mr Webb told the court.

Lynch's family were in the court to show support for him.

"They are shocked, as he is, by the nature of these allegations," Mr Webb said.

Lynch is a sports psychologist who works mainly with adult golfers, the court was told.

He lives at Banyo and mainly works at Eagle Farm.

Lynch was bailed to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 13.

His bail conditions include not being allowed to go to the Gold Coast, having no professional contact with children and handing in his passport.
