Qld charities treated as dumping grounds
AAP
Thousands of tonnes of rubbish - including soiled mattresses, broken furniture and window blinds - are being dumped each year at Queensland charities, a government-funded report says.
The report found "conservatively" 8200 tonnes of waste had been dumped at the state's charities in the 2014/15 financial year.
Environment Minister Steven Miles has called on Queenslanders to break the irresponsible habit which leaves charities with the disposal costs.
