Qld car park gunman charged over shooting

A man has been charged with attempted murder nearly a month after a "love triangle" shooting at a Gold Coast car park.

It is alleged Anthony Soong, 23, shot former Big Brother contestant Sam Wallace in the legs at a Merrimac restaurant on December 6.

Police say he drove into the car park with a 19-year-old woman before getting out of the car and opening fire on Mr Wallace, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a nearby car.

They say Choong then drove off, leaving the woman at the scene.

She was questioned but released without charge.

Police have previously confirmed the trio knew each other, with reports suggesting it was a love triangle gone awry.

After being on the run for three weeks, Soong turned himself in to officers on Monday.

He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 19, charged with eight offences including two counts of attempted murder.
