Qld barrister banned from CCC witness

High-profile Brisbane lawyer Sam Di Carlo has lost a bid to vary his bail conditions to allow him to contact likely witnesses in an ongoing Crime and Corruption Commission investigation.

But the 60-year-old, who was charged with perjury last month over allegations he lied at a CCC hearing, told Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday he didn't want to change a condition banning him from speaking to friend and embattled former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale.

During the same hearing police successfully applied to add another name, that of a potential CCC witness, to the list of people Di Carlo must avoid.

The court also heard allegations Di Carlo manipulated an ongoing investigation by arranging legal representation through which information would filter back to him.

He is not required to appear when his matter comes back before the same court on October 25.
