Police to detonate explosives at Qld home

Police will carry out a controlled detonation of explosive material found in the yard of a home on Brisbane's northern outskirts.

A 19-year-old man was charged on Wednesday after police discovered chemicals used to make explosives at the Burpengary house.

The materials are expected to be detonated on Thursday afternoon, but there will be no threat to surrounding homes, a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.
