The search for a Queensland schoolgirl has been called off after she turned up at school following a sleepover at a friend's house.

The 11-year-old girl disappeared in her school uniform on Thursday afternoon after saying she was going to a skate park at Logan.

She was last seen in Pilbi Street in the Logan suburb of Woodridge and was reported missing at 9pm.

Inspector Glenn Allen said police officers doorknocked homes and searched a large area of parkland near the girl's home.

"An 11-year-old child out by herself, without any real means at the time, still in her school uniform is cause for concern for us," he said.

He said police issued an amber alert on Friday morning when it emerged the girl had taken about $50 from her house, which meant she could have travelled outside the search area.

But the search was called off when she turned up at Mabel Park Primary School where she is a student.

Insp Allen said the girl's mother did not know about the sleepover, which was at a friend's house in the local area.

Police are now speaking to the girl, who is learning of the concern she caused.

"She has expressed some remorse," Insp Allen said.
