Police not ruling out others in Qld murder

Police haven't ruled out an accomplice in the alleged murder of a Brisbane restaurant owner after charging his nephew with stabbing him to death.

Za'id Abdus Samad, 21, on Wednesday faced court charged with murdering Abdul Basith Mohammed, 35, in the front yard of his Saint George Street home at Kuraby in 2017.

The father-of-four had gone outside to investigate after the power to his family home was cut off just after midnight on October 25.

Police say the electricity was disconnected to lure Mr Mohammed just metres away from his wife and children.

He was found dead on his lawn by officers called to the scene.

The case was mentioned briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday and Abdus Samad was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on February 4.

But police are still offering indemnity from prosecution to the first person to come forward, along with a $250,000 reward for information that leads to Mr Mohammed's killer or killers being convicted.

"This arrest today does not end this offer of reward and we encourage any person who may still have new information to come forward," Acting Superintendent Craig Morrow said on Wednesday.
