Man charged with murder following alleged caravan stabbing

A Queensland man has been charged with murder for allegedly stabbing another man to death, before calling police and leading them to his body.
Police said the 33-year-old had made the call to Mackay police around 3am yesterday morning, telling them he had just stabbed someone.

Detective Inspector Tom Amritt confirmed the man greeted them at The Park, a Mackay caravan park, where he assisted with investigations.
He said the 33-year-old then took police to the nearby location of the alleged stabbing.
"Police located a deceased male person on the south side of the Bruce Highway, approximately 700 metres away from the first crime scene," Inspector Armitt said.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old, Mackay man Birdsall Fa'apepele.
He was found dead on the scene, with fatal stab wounds to the neck, abdomen and face.
The 33-year-old suspect, believed to have been staying at the caravan park was taken into police custody, and was questioned in a Mackay watch house.
He was charged with Mr Fa'apepele's murder this morning.
Investigations are ongoing.
