Police are appealing for women who may have been sexually assaulted while using a ride sharing service to come forwards as they investigate an Uber driver accused of raping a young passenger three times.

The man, 47, has been remanded in custody and detectives believe he may have abused other women collected late at night from central Brisbane during the last two years.

"We're investigating a series of what we believe are sexual assaults within the vehicle sharing transport industry," Acting Inspector David Farley said.

"We believe that there may be other victims out there that may be too scared to come forward."

Police have several strong leads and Acting Inspector Farley has asked for anyone with information to come forward.

The accused rapist is due to return to court on July 31.
