Police in standoff at Brisbane unit

Police have surrounded a Brisbane property where a man is holed up after reportedly making a bomb threat.

Police say the man called in the threat in to emergency services at about 2pm on Tuesday, and an emergent situation was declared at the Cleveland unit an hour later.

Specialist officers are on the scene and are negotiating with the man.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the Passage Street area, between Middle Street and Queen Street.
