Queensland's opposition says the premier must act against embattled Labor MP Rick Williams.

Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg says fresh allegations the MP wrote a character reference for an accused bikie, who later reoffended and was convicted, should be the final straw.

"How bad must it be before (Premier) Annastacia Palaszczuk is prepared to act against Rick Williams," he said.

The Courier-Mail reported at the weekend the MP wrote a character reference for a bikie on trial for stealing and burning a pensioner's boat.

Allegations of forgery and harassment against Mr Williams, made by his former employee Bruce McLean, are being investigated by police.

Mr Williams has been stood aside from the Parliamentary Legal Affairs and Community Safety committee pending the outcome of the investigation.

Ms Palaszczuk has vowed in the past to sack the MP from the Labor Party if he has been dishonest with her.

However, she needs Mr Williams' vote in the parliament to keep her minority government in power.

"Rick Williams has admitted to some mistakes in the past, he's working hard as the local member and I expect him to continue working hard for his community," she said on Monday, when asked about the MP.

Comment has been sought from Mr Williams.
