Pair remanded over north Qld murder

Two men have been remanded in custody over the stabbing murder of a man in north Queensland, while their alleged accomplice remains on the run.

Joshua Don Francis Wales, 24, and Jeremy Keith Abell, 26, appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Wales is facing a murder charge, while Abell has been charged with manslaughter.

Both men have been accused of armed robbery and entering a premises with intent while armed.

They were remanded in custody to reappear on Friday.

The pair was arrested on Wednesday after the body of Tyrone Michael Baynton, 29, was found in the yard of his North Mackay property on October 11.

Police remain on the hunt for 29-year-old Mala Owen Geissler, who is believed to be hiding in the Mackay area.

"Police wish to emphasise that anyone harbouring this person is committing an offence and is liable to prosecution," police said in a statement.
