North Qld pair on run after gun heist

A man and woman who stole a gun safe from a Townsville business on the weekend remain on the run.

Police say the pair took a gun safe from a business in the suburb of Mount St John on Saturday or Sunday and then drove off in a ute.

Officers spotted the pair at a petrol station on Monday at 12.30pm before they ditched the ute and fled.

The ute is being forensically tested.
