North Qld man facing four rape charges

A man is facing four rape charges after allegedly attacking a woman at a far north Queensland beach.

Police allege a 47-year-old man offered a lift to the 27-year-old woman at Lockhart River, Cape York, on Saturday morning before driving the woman to a local beach.

He then sexually assaulted the woman who was later found by another woman and taken to a local clinic for treatment.

The man was due to appear in the Weipa Magistrates Court on Monday charged with four counts of rape and three counts of assault with intent to commit rape.
