Queensland's energy minister has refused to say how many staff will be forced to relocate when power distributors Ergon and Energex merge.

Mark Bailey told parliament on Wednesday the government was still consulting with the workforce to determine how the merged company, which will have its headquarters in Townsville, will look.

"I'm not going to get into some sort of guessing game with the Member for Glasshouse," Mr Bailey said in response to a question from Opposition MP Andrew Powell, adding there would be no forced redundancies.
