No evidence found in Youngkin cold case

Police have failed to locate any evidence in a Brisbane wetland that could help solve the suspected murder of Wayne Youngkin 30 years ago.

Divers spent Tuesday scouring the Deagon Wetlands after Detective Inspector Tim Trezise confirmed the homicide squad had received information "certain evidence may have been disposed of in the water".

But a Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed to AAP nothing had been located and the search would not continue on Wednesday.

Mr Youngkin's remains were found in a disused septic tank in the yard of his former Brighton home in November 2016, 30 years after he was last known to be alive.

Det Insp Trezise said his skeletal remains showed significant signs of trauma.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
