The driver of a car involved in a collision with a runaway pram that left a baby injured on Queensland's Gold Coast, will not be charged.

The motorist was driving along Pacific Pines Boulevard on Wednesday, when a pram rolled down a steep driveway and struck the passing vehicle, seriously injuring the baby girl inside.

The 11-month-old is being treated in Gold Coast University Hospital with leg and head injuries.

The driver stopped and rendered first aid until the ambulance arrived, then left the scene, Inspector Karen Shaw told the ABC.

Police spoke with the motorist on Friday afternoon and were satisfied no charges should be laid, she said.
